What We Inherit

An Exploration of Lineage, Complexity, Responsibility & Choice

Ancestral Grief Course Image 4_edited.jpg

This 10-Week Online Gathering invites us to explore what we inherit may be things we did not choose and do not want.

Names ~ Stories ~ Patterns

Beliefs ~ Wounds ~ Privileges.

Silences ~ Shame ~ Pride

Ways of relating. Ways of surviving. Ways of loving.

Some of what we inherit nourishes us.

Some of it harms us.

Some of it is complicated.

And some of it may be difficult to know at all.

This course offers a place to turn toward what came before—not to romanticize our ancestors, condemn them, excuse them, or force reconciliation, but to become more conscious of what we have inherited and more intentional about what we choose to carry forward.

Across many cultures and lineages, human beings have developed ways of relating to those who came before us. The forms differ greatly, but a shared human movement toward remembering, witnessing, acknowledging, and deciding how we will live in relationship to what we have inherited emerges.

Who May Be Interested

Anyone who has ever felt the weight of what they know of or about their ancestors - their experiences, their actions - and wondered what to do with it.

Open to all lineages, all ancestral backgrounds, and all levels of familiarity with ancestral work. You do not need an established practice, a complete family history, or a clearly defined relationship with your ancestors to belong here.

You need only a willingness to turn toward what is yours to explore and examine.

What We Will Explore Together

Over 10 weeks, we will explore questions such as:

  • What does it mean to inherit a lineage?

  • What happens when the story we inherited is incomplete, romanticized, painful, or largely unknown?

  • What have we inherited that we do not want to continue?

  • How might we acknowledge difficult truths without becoming consumed by shame?

  • What does responsibility look like when we did not personally create the conditions we inherited?

  • What might reconciliation mean — and what might it not mean?

  • What becomes possible when we distinguish honoring lineage from repeating lineage?

~ A Different Kind of Ancestral Work ~

You do not have to romanticize your lineage to acknowledge it.

You do not have to reject your lineage to change it.

And reconciliation does not necessarily mean forgiveness, approval, intimacy, or spiritual communion.

Sometimes reconciliation begins with telling the truth about what is here.

~ The Practices ~

  • Somatic awareness: Noticing how what you carry lives in your body

  • Optional sharing: Bringing what arises into the circle, if you feel moved

  • Journaling: A private companion for what surfaces during and between gatherings

  • Optional ritual work: Invoking and communing with specific branches of your ancestral tree

  • Dream tending & synchronicity: Attuning to what the ancestors may reveal and communicate

  • Optional familial research: Tracing what is known and sitting with what is not

The Circle-Keeper

Malindora is a Medium, a Ritualist, and a Tender of the Ancient Body.

Since childhood she has lived with an open door to the Unseen; a gift carried in her lineage and honed through a lifetime of walking beside the Ancestors and Spirits - even when she did not want to.

She has trained in the shamanic and divinatory traditions of Northern Ghana and Burkina Faso, sitting at the feet of elders who taught her that what we inherit from those who came before us is neither simple, pretty, nor finished.

She knows this territory not only as a practitioner but as a descendant. She brings to this gathering a steady, unhurried presence; one that can sit with what is tangled, what is tender, and what has not yet found its name.
